Heard something on BYUtv about this being the 1st home losing streak for Bronco
Because of this I wanted to research streaks with BYU football and then share. I personally believe having some of these things (losing streaks we are unaccustomed to) happen are intensifying angst among fans during a time where they feel winning is the only way to "get in" to a P5. I am more about winning is the only way to get into a NY6/CFP. (Sorry - I'm just not in the camp that believes winning anything has really mattered much with conference re-alignment). Either way winning is very important to us in this current landscape and these trends are painful....

I'm not really providing any qualifiers with this information or trying to draw a conclusion other than the fact that this being Bronco's first losing streak at home and against Go5/MWC teams is a very hard pill to swallow for me (and I'm sure others). Other than that draw your own conclusions. BYU fans like to win and score a lot of points so I provided some minor details for our last 3 coaches...

LaVell
- 1 streak of 5 losses (it spanned the end of one season and the beginning of the next [2 in 90 & 3 in 91])
- 5 streaks of 4 non wins; 1 of those streaks there was 1 tie in it (2 spanned end of one season and the beginning of the next)
- 2 streaks of 3 losses (1 spanned end of one season and the beginning of the next)
- 10 streaks of 2 losses (5 spanned end of one season and the beginning of the next - usually a bowl game)

1992 Back-to-back home losses (part of a 3 game skid) [losses to SDSU & UCLA]
1993 Back-to-back-to-back home losses (3 home losses in a row part of a 4 game skid followed by a road win then another home loss) [losses to ND, Fresno St & Utah]

3 seasons under LaVell BYU was outscored in total points by opponents (3 out of 29)

Losses came as follows 55 Away, 29 Home & 17 Neutral
Ties came as follows 2 Away & 1 Neutral

Gary
- 0 four or more game losing streaks
- 3 streaks of 3 losses
- 6 streaks of 2 losses

2003 - 5 straight home losses (part of two separate 2 game skids and a 3 game skid) [losses to Stanford, AF, CSU, BSU & Utah]
2004 - Back-to-back home losses (part of a 3 game skid, road game win then another home loss) [losses to USC & UNLV]

3 seasons under Gary BYU was outscored in total points by opponents (3 out of 4)

Losses came as follows 12 Away, 10 Home & 1 Neutral

Bronco
- 1 streak of 4 losses
- 2 streaks of 3 losses (1 spanned end of one season and the beginning of the next)
- 6 streaks of 2 losses

2014 Back-to-back home losses (part of the current 3 game skid) [losses to USU & Nevada]

0 seasons under Bronco BYU was outscored in total points by opponents (0 out of 10 so far - this year could become at risk)

Losses came as follows 22 Away, 11 Home & 4 Neutral

Current streak has me frustrated for sure as I try to grasp a reason why it is happening. This was an exercise for me to see some history to determine if this is a horrible plague or if it is something BYU can potentially survive and rise up from...unfortunately it didn't sway me either way but the remaining 5 games (plus hopefully bowl) could solidify an answer....
