Now, I am not blaming any one particular person.
If recruiting were all there was to it wouldn't Crowton still be here?
Even if you look at his 2001 defense, which SUCKED by the way, they had a lot of NFL talent on that D. I know he didn't recruit those guys, but he did have them and they were talented, and our D was just plain bad.
I also find it funny how people often say Bronco did so well with "Crowton Recruits". So, which is it? The players or the coaches?
It's both. The coaches deserve some blame. Players deserve some. Injuries are being downplayed by the whiners BIG TIME though.
Truthfully, I think a good portion of BYU's fortune as a team hinges tremendously on the QB position. If you look at 2006-2009, QB health and play was very good. When you look at the time since then, QB play has suffered. Finally when we have the right combination of talent and experience at QB, we go 4-0, until he goes down.
Much of what saved us the last few years has been stellar D play. If only we had a D like that in 2008 or 2009, or even this year.
QB play is huge at BYU, always has been.
Anyway, I am sure you don't see it that way. That's just my opinion.
