This is a very fair point, and one that bothers me when people talk about the

real estate melt down. Banks were pressured to loan to high risk borrowers and then were blamed with those same borrowers defaulted in droves.

Banks were definitely not blameless, but I never felt like this side of the discussion was ever really analyzed much.
