Being shut out of a conference is discouraging
and annoying and has serious long-term implications. If BYU doesn't get into the Big 12 or PAC, then we are in trouble eventually. Independence is temporary. We've got to find a permanent home and a good one. I can see fans eventually becoming discouraged if our situation worsens because we can't get into the big leagues.

But it's not time to bail on BYU football yet. We would be 7-0 and on our way to an undefeated season if Taysom had not got hurt. Then everyone, including the fair-weather fans, would be happy and singing Bronco's praises. All the other injuries have also contributed to the last three loses.

We have to realize that the players suffered a huge emotional hit when their QB and leader went down and we lost that game. There went the special year. All in one hit, it was over. That's football.

Sure, we had some nagging problems and weaknesses on defense and special teams that just haven't been fixed. But what team is perfect? All teams, all players have their ups and downs. Do we really have coaching problems? Should Bronco or anyone on the staff be fired? What if Hill had not been lost for the season? What if we had gone undefeated and ranked high? Maybe even in the NC playoff. It was within our grasp.

Then what would the fair-weather fans be doing? Strutting around bragging about how good we are? Promising more money and support forever. What a bunch of losers.

I only have one team, BYU. I'm in it for good, win or lose. Sure I'm devastated when things go bad and we lose. Our expectations built so high through the first four games and then came crashing down. I know it's tough to take. But only a fool and loser would bail on the team now. I just can't imaging myself ever becoming a yewt fan. That's really the lowest of the low. It will never happen. That's not for me.

Fans are such wooses. Whine and cry when things get tough. Take their ball and go home the first bad hit they have to take. Come on, quit being such babies. Think of how Taysom feels. Think of how all the players feel, they are the ones who had so much invested in this. Think of how the coaches feel, they want to win and be successful so bad. They all have so much more skin in the game than the poor, snively fans. Let's have a little empathy, a little loyalty, show some guts. I hate the phrase, but there's always next year. We'll be back and we'll be better than ever.
