he's done a little of that...
...he first tried to implement the Air Raid offense and it quickly wasn't working for BYU, with the players he had, to throw the ball 60+ times a game. He adjusted things to the players he had and his knowledge of run schemes, etc and started using the run to set up the pass and BYU has cranked out some of the best running backs in program history during his time.

Where I'd like to see him get creative is where we thought he was going to go with his scheme this year, attacking vertical and putting pressure on defenses to have to cover the entire field instead of stacking the box. We heard jokes about him running a deep receiver on every play to tire out opposing corners, etc and yet when the season started there's no variation at all.

It was Jamaal up the middle, Taysom right and Taysom left. We don't incorporate very much "option" into our Read Option offense. It worked fine enough because Taysom was so dominant of an athlete but scoring in the mid 30's to very low 40's certainly isn't setting the world on fire either. A lot of that offense each game is concentrated into about 1 1/2 quarters of play and the rest of the game we do nothing.

The offensive game plan that Utah St ran on us is what I thought and hoped we'd see from Anae this year. Utilizing a lot of options at the point of attack with the QB having WR's in motion running the fly sweep and also stretching the field by hitting the deep pass frequently.
