initially I would estimate that Warp is much faster than Hyperdrive, because
well, by Han Solo's own statement, the Millennium Fulcan can only make .5 past light speed. However, as we delve deeper into the realm of Star Wars, that can't be true.... Star Wars takes place throughout 6 separate galaxies. No way would they be able to zing around their realm at simply 1.5 times the speed of light. The more you look into the ever evolving world of George Lucas, you realize that each ship has a speed rating. A typical Star Destroyer from the Imperial Fleet is rated at 1 Light Speed.... for it's impressive Hyperdrive system. A 1 is the highest rating a ship can receive. Well, after a few of the "Special Modifications" that Han made on the MF... it would be rated at .5 Light Speed... or twice as fast as a Star Destroyer.

To put this in context of Star Trek, in Star Trek TNG First Season they experiment with Trans-Warp Drive. The experiment goes awry and they find themselves outside of the Milky Way Galaxy, over 100,000 LY's from Earth. It's the farthest and fastest they've ever gone before. Compare this to Star Wars and a Hyperdrive system would leave any simple Warp Drive system in the dust.... Space Dust.

Also, interesting to note... if you watch closely in The Phantom Menace, you'll notice ET characters in the Senate Chamber. This means that ET's are part of the Republic. ET came to earth, played with Star Wars action figures with Elliot, and recognized Yoda (a kid dressed as Yoda) when they went out trick or treating for Halloween. Also, later in the movie Elliot is riding his bike and ET makes it fly. Combine ET's knowledge of Yoda with his ability to makes things float (ie using the force). It stands to reason that ET is a Jedi... just sayin'

Wow, this was almost more fun than talking about football..... almost.
