Good camping gear is a great idea

One really cool recommendation is a camping hammock like this one: http://www.hennessyhammock.com/

They have a built-in rain fly, mosquito screen, and they support a lot of weight. My assistant scoutmaster had a couple that he would take on outings with us, and all the boys thought they were awesome.
