I think we may not see the effects of Howell until a bit down the road. But if you are big recruit are you impressed by a younger coach that has never played football and hasn't coached in any other circles, coming into your home and selling you on BYU? If I were a parent, I would be a bit apprehensive on that situation. I would want my son to get the best opportunity to be coached, to win, and to possibly make the NFL. Howell doesn't scream that to me. Just the opposite.
A great CEO (which is a big part of being HC) finds the best talent possible knowing that they will eventually progress and move on. That's how business works. That's how LaVell worked. Bronco hasn't done that.
