I can take my kids at an away game to see the players, meet them, hear them speak. After they see them perform on the field, the firesides take on added meaning as way to be a role model to our youth.
However, for the players, they probably aren't timed very well for them to be focused on winning football games. The off-season, as Derik proposes, might be the best of both worlds, but then youth in away venues would never get to see their role models at all.
I think this one is a hard one to really come down on. You could go either way and be right.
