Personally, I like the firesides. I think they are one of the perks on independence for the church. You get to have these athletes reach out to members in places where they normally haven't visited in years and likely won't for many more. In many cases it's a once in a generation opportunity for the football team to come to your neighborhood.

I still remember several off season firesides with LaVell era QBs and players. They were great and I was sooooo excited for them as a young fan.

But I can't help but think that he's right in the fact that the firesides can't help the team focus on winning the next day and having that aggressive attitude.
