The problems during those years weren't on defense
Well, with the exception of being extremely thin at corner (like most years). The real issue with those teams was offense--we had an average QB and below average WR's and TE's, and no depth at RB. When Aaron Roderick is one of your best receivers, then you definitely are in trouble.
