Most of those guys cut their teeth coaching different positions at "lesser" schools (Mike Leach at Valdosta State, for instance) long before they got their first coordinator gig. Dan Mullen was at Bowling Green for a time before he went to Florida and was reunited with Meyer. David Cutcliffe started coaching in 76 and didn't become a coordinator until 93. I think this is the point that is trying to be made.
