Just got done watching the scrimmage. Here is a quick recap
Team White: Haws, Winder, Bartley, worthington, Andrus, Ellis, Nixon

Team Blue: Chase, Halford, KC, Sharp, Nielsen, Chatman, Toolson, Davis

Kafusi and Aytes still not playing and just riding the bikes. Austin is still not even in practice gear.

Blue was up 39-37 at half
Blue wins 68-55

All players seemed much more intense and into it in the first half.

quick scoring summary (it is obviously off, sorry best I could do) When fouled each player only shot 1 free throw shot but it counted as 2 points
White
Haws 20+ (one three made all free throws)
Winder 7 (one three)
Luke 8 (made free throw)
Andrus 0
Bartley 3 (one three, missed free throw)
Ellis 6 (made free throw)
Nixon 5 (one three)

Blue
Chase 21 (5 threes and made free throws)
KC 12 (1-2 from the line)
Toolson 11 (3 threes)
Nielsen 10 (made free throw)
Sharp 6 (made free throw)
Davis 8 (2 threes)
Halford 2

Couple of things of note:

White team
Worthington: would have fouled out (I think he had three offensive fouls on screens), some wild layups too that were missed. Had to have shot below 50%
Bartley: played PG pretty much the entire time, even most of the time when he and Ellis were in together. He missed two layups where he never passed. Both layups led to transition layups. He has to finish those as the PG.
Haws: slowed down a little in the second half which is one of the reasons why the blue team pulled away but he was the same old haws. Passed a little more on penetration which is nice to see. Hit nixon on a wide open three
Winder: really nice cuts in the first half. Not too much in the second half
Ellis: He will not make mistakes when if he gets PT. Nice backup
Nixon: Didn't look to lost on the floor. Better than expected. Can BYU play small and have him play the 4 if Austin and Kafusi don't get healthy?
Andrus: was caught grabbing...game might be too quick but might be forced to play if Austin and and Kafusi don't get healthy

Blue team
Nielsen: took a while to get going but finished the half strong. Probably had three blocks or so. Two really nice ones. One on Worthington and another on WInder. Nice long arms. I was excited to see him as a stretch four but he airballed his only shot outside of 15 feet. He looked the best of the bigs.
KC: Looked a little slow but understandable. Missed his 8 foot baseline jumpers but still managed to get his points and fill the sheet.
Halford: Looked controlled. Did not look to shoot much. Played PG when KC was out.
Davis: He looked solid. Looked more comfortable outside the key than inside the key. His two three were really nice. His other shots not so much.
Sharp: We know what we will get from Sharp by now. Had some nice offensive boards, looked to slash a little more so that was nice. Had a really nice dunk on a feed from KC
Chatman: Played very little. Still has a ways to go.
Toolson: got caught in bad positions on defense by Haws (but Haws is good at doing that to everyone). His shot will get him PT this year. All this threes were set up by Chase driving
CHASE!: He was probably 5-9 from three. When he didn't shoot the three he quickly gets rid of it or drives in the key and every time he drove he found people. Toolson for 3 three, Davis for his two, Isaac for a nice dunk (the pass was much better). The thing I really like about Chase was that when he went into the key he only shot it when he got to the rim.....none of this 5 foot running jumper stuff over the tall guys. When people were in his way, he looked for the open guy. I think he shot it three times on the drive (twice he was fouled at the rim and the other time he made a layup....that is efficient!)

So in recap: We need Austin and Kafusi!!!!!!! Get healthy boys. Hurry up and get Aytes grades submitted!! You would have thought there was a fresh coat of wet paint in the key when Worthington and Neilsen were not in the game. It will be interesting to see how the big men play out in preseason. How it is today I would start Nielsen and Sharp.

Bartley looked controlled but rarely got into the key other than those costly missed layups. When he or Halford is in the game and running the point it will be very important for Chase to be in with them so we can get some penetration.

This team seems to be much better with the three. Chase and Toolson will be gunners. Can't wait for next week!!!
