In just a quick look it must be end of season rankings because
In 2010 we lost to AFA, FSU, Nevada & Utah St - none of which were ranked at the time of the game.
FSU ended the year 10-4 (won the Chick-fil-a bowl) and ranked #17.
In 1974 we started the season win less in our first 4 games against unranked teams. @ Hawaii, Utah State, @ Iowa State and a Tie to @ Colorado State. None of them were ranked at the time of the game or at the end of the year.
