season then lost four in a row and ended up 4-4. During the four game losing streak in '93 the defense was terrible, giving up 55 points per game. He mentioned that LaVell didn't get the same criticism that Bronco does, probably because there wasn't social media back then.
I texted him and said the reason LaVell wasn't criticized as much for two reasons:
1) LaVell still tied for the conference championship that year.
2) LaVell had won a National Championship, so he get more of a pass, whereas Bronco hasn't come close to accomplishing what LaVell had done. Maybe if Bronco had 1-2 undefeated seasons and/or BCS bowl games then he'd get the same pass as LaVell.
