Just this past week the CDC came out with new universal precautions (protocols) for the protection of healthcare workers dealing with suspected or active Ebola patients.
Two interesting things:
1) They lifted their presentation directly from Emory University without credit or attribution;
2) Their advice regarding the removal of gloves (double) was WRONG. Two independent groups of our residents pointed that out during didactics when they reviewed the new CDC guidelines.
Things like this don't give anyone who understands this disease a warm and fuzzy feeling that the CDC is on top of it. No, not at all.
A wrong protocol is as bad as no protocol at all.
