to let the program fall apart. They just won't let it happen, and will do what it takes to get things on track. They may not make moves as quickly as many of us would want, but don't mistake that for indifference. This idea that BYU as a university only cares about firesides and building young men, even at the expense of winning, is baloney. It's true that they will not compromise their values, but that does not mean they don't care deeply about winning. Winning is critical to the program's mission, and football has been a huge part of BYU's identity. Everybody understand how important it is to put a winning program on the field. BYU took this program independent precisely because they desperately want to play big-time football. They aren't going to stand by and watch it all fall apart and simply shrug their shoulders.
