So, I listened to the Howell interview. He did fine in the interview.
He sounded a little nervous, but I don't care about that. I don't think he was arrogant. He seemed engaged. He wasn't oversimplifying things. I thought the interview was well done by him actually.

The ONLY problem I had in the interview was my perception that he thinks the players need to do their jobs. Even that is probably me just reading too much into it.

I think Howell is in over his head. I don't know what they do in practice, but they should have had the pads off doing fundamentals type tackling and pursuit drills. The players should know there assignments and responsibilities so well they don't have to think about it. THIS is what Howell is accountable for.

It makes me sick that we have another coach learning the coordinator responsibilities on the job again.

In the end, I don't think it was fair to make Doman and OC so quickly and now Howell will probably have a similar fate. It stinks for him, but performance matters. I hope the same mistake is never repeated at BYU again. Nobody wins.
