Thoughts on Jazz game last night
First of all, Rudy Gobert. Wow. What a game changer he is on defense. He completely shut Dwight Howard down. When Favors or Kanter were trying to defend Dwight he had his way every single time and put up huge numbers. When Gobert went in he altered Dwights shot every time. I honestly don't think Howard scored more than a handful of points on Gobert. His length creates huge problems in the paint. It was awesome to see. Now if he could just develop an offensive game.
Booker. For what we are paying him, we are getting a lot. He hustles and plays quite well.
Exum shows promise. He is young, but he is so athletic. He could be good.
Hood. I like his play. He seems to defend pretty well. He hit a couple good shots, but he needs to get more consistent from outside.
Alec Burks is the star on this team right now. Very under rated player. I love his athleticism and energy.
Favors. He was pretty good last night, but not great. He got owned by Dwight Howard, but then again almost every body does. Dwight is just that good. Favors showed some good offensive moves last night in the paint and was knocking down the 12 foot jumper consistently in the first half.
Gordon Hayward. That guy couldn't buy a shot last night if his life depended on it. He and Tre Burke were ice cold from outside and that killed us.
Kanter. He's just not that good. Too bad because I had hopes of him being a good big man.
Coach Snyder has a lot of work to do with these guys. Especially with defending the threes. You can't allow a team to shoot 50% from beyond the arc. They were wide open, uncontested shots too. Our defense needs to improve. Not surprising though as we have been last in the league the last couple years in defensive stats. Hopefully Snyder can turn that around.
