100% agree in my situation.
I was an 18-year old kid, who grew up watching BYU sports with my Dad. I was accepted at several schools that were academically more prestigious. I was also confident in the sturdiness of my testimony and desire to go on a mission regardless of where I went. But I LOVED BYU sports.

At the time, I think I chose BYU for a lot of reasons. But in hindsight, if I hadn't grown up hearing stories about how I attended every home game in 1984 as a baby, if I hadn't witnessed the deification of Ty Detmer, if I hadn't watched my Mom sobbing in anger after the no-call PI's against KSU in the Cotton Bowl... then I almost certainly wouldn't have chosen to go to BYU.
