I loved Matthews but at the time I was unsure if they should have matched or not. Matthews had only played 1 year in the NBA and Portland signed him to a 5 years 34 million dollar contract that was front loaded. It was front loaded so much that it made Wesley Matthews the highest paid 2nd year player in the history of the NBA. You can't really be too tough on the Jazz for not matching considering the salaries they had at that time.
