Let's not get caught up in semantics. The church owes its great fortune almost..
entirely to charitable contributions by its members. Whether that comes in the form of tithes, offerings, donations of property or real/estate, etc., is irrelevant. It all comes from the same place (charitable contributions by members). The church has seen fit to invest many of these donations. That's fine. Some investments are appropriate for a church to make. Others aren't. I don't think a college football team is an appropriate investment for a church claiming to be doing the work of god on earth to make.
