The more I think about it, the more I realize BYU needs Sitake.
Now is the perfect time to go after him with Utah choosing not to extend his contract at the end of last season. If it requires paying him a HC salary, then that's what BYU needs to do.

He would bring a lot of things to the table that have already been discussed ad nauseam on the board.

1. He would help recruiting, specifically poly players.
2. He would be respected by the players, and get them fired up to play.
3. He would get the most out of his players and prepare them to play at the next level.
4. He would help mend some of the rifts that have occurred with some former players.
5. He would be the perfect guy to take over whenever Bronco leaves.

I hope Bronco isn't stubborn enough to leave his wagon hitched to Nick Howell's star. It's clear that was a failure. I understand if his assistant coaching pool has been limited in the past by salary constraints, but that needs to change. Hopefully the admin can see that BYU football, and athletics in general are in a precarious position right now and they realize they can't keep getting by hiring bargain-basement coaches. If it takes a booster, or group of boosters saying they will withhold future donations, or will make a large donation on the condition that BYU hires Sitake, I'm fine with that. Money talks. If boosters push for it that way, the admin will listen.

Some of you might think it is hyperbole to suggest that hiring one assistant coach will fix all the issues that BYU is currently facing. I'm not suggesting it will, but I feel like it would be a big positive step in the right direction and reverse some of the negative trends that have plagued the program recently.
