I don't think she planned on the UVA Innocence Project taking up the case.

Like she mentioned though, she's reporting the story, not trying to get it resolved legally/set him free. In any case, there are some news stories out there about the case that talk about where it's at legally right now:

There is an ongoing appeal arguing that Adnan didn't receive effective legal counsel. The deadline for the State's response was Nov 14, but they were just granted an extension to January.
