All I know is BYU would've joined the AAC if allowed to retain home TV rights.

Assuming BYU would require no less from the MWC than from the now-AAC, I can only conclude that any negotiations between BYU and the MWC ended the same way as the negotiations between BYU and the Big East (now the AAC).

Yeah, it's great that Hair is willing to negotiate, but not if he won't give BYU what it wants.
