Today was really fun
I know a bunch of you are all hoity-toity about playing Savannah State. My son and I almost didn't go to the game. It was pouring when it was time to leave. But as we got there, the rain stopped just as it was time to park and get out. We got to the stadium and instead of going to our typical nosebleed seats picked out mid-field seats about 20 rows up with a great view of the game.

It was a totally relaxed atmosphere. I know the opponent wasn't worthy to be on the same field. By my son had a great time watching each score. We came up with a math formula to calculate how many total pushups the ROTC people would have to do based on each potential score. The only problem was they didn't do push ups after the safety so that messed up our calculations and we had to adjust for that.

After the game we went down and he got to give high fives to a bunch of the players, which he thought was awesome. The players kept saying "thanks for coming" and "thanks for staying to the end". It was a different perspective to realize attendance means something to the players themselves. The Savannah State players were cool about it too. They were giving kids game gear like headbands and gloves.

The weather wasn't bad at all. It only rained at halftime when we were under the bleachers and then stopped. It started again with maybe 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter. It could have been much worse. I honestly think it was my son's favorite game experience ever. So today wasn't about "the program" or "the coaches" or "P5 Status". It was about having a good experience with my son.
