Couple of thoughts:
1) Curious as to what this has to do with anything. Completely different situations. (Winning v losing, off the field issues, coaching staff off the field issues, major shift away from tradition, etc.)

2) I don't care who the coach is, my personality generally stops me from saying things about a man the way that some appear to be attacking. I did not spend much time on a message board during those years, but my personality would have been the same. Attack the man, I'll tend to defend... Want an honest and civil discussion about the situation, I'll engage.

3) I was willing to give Crowton rope too. In the end, he hung himself (metaphorically speaking) in many ways. I spent a significant amount of time around the program during those years. It was tough to see it from the inside as well as the public side of it. In the end, for those who can set emotion aside for a moment, BYU had to act. It was everything going wrong, not just the losing seasons (not games, seasons). There were many institutional issues and off the field issues as well. Even the coaching staff had some big issues. Be careful to compare to current coaching staffing issues (e.g. Right man for the job or not), not even close to what I'm talking about (for many reasons)...

Ultimately, I will say this. It seems like those who want Bronco gone: 1) are done with him, 2) want to engage (with vigor) anyone who is not with them, even those who are on the fence, kind of a 'you're with us or against us' mentality, 3) have no tolerance for a different point of view, 4) appear to find everything they can to prove their point, including using arguments that have nothing to do with on the field success. It's a campaign.

I get the frustration of those who want to move on. I really do. Some, however, have a different point of view. Some are frustrated with the losses and even specific decisions, but still think he's the man for the job. Some are a little loyal given what he did to turn us around so quickly (many thought it would take a long time to get back from the Crowton years).

Anyone who automatically derides someone who still believes that Bronco is good for BYU as 'wanting mediocrity', 'has their head in the sand', 'doesn't understand/care about football', etc. is a short sighted doofus. (Sorry for the language)

I can value and appreciate that there are those who are different, have different opinions, and see things differently. That is ok. I won't feel like 'I lost' if the fire Bronco crowd gets their way. This isn't personal to me. I simply think differently. What I don't value is the negativity and passive aggressive (or simply aggressive) attacks on fans, program, people, coaches, etc. Never will. When it's time to move on (whether tomorrow or in ten years), I hope we know how to treat a great person with respect on the way out. I also hope we get what we wish for!

Sorry to use such language. I woke up on the wrong side of the bed.
