Would you consider an iPad? My wife and I did that. We wrote papers on the Mac.
But an iPad was good enough for everything else.
I think a chromebook is also a good option though. I know some people that had that setup and really liked it. I prefer the tablet, but it just depends on your preference I think. Either way, no need to get a PC.
