ll this year. usu was bad, really, really bad, but as soon as that game was lost a very vocal minority took over and made every conversation about how bad we were and demanding coaches be fired, schollies were pulled, and claiming they were giving up on byu athletics. i'm not saying that the rest of the skid didn't warrant some of those discussions, but the lightning quick reaction to a single loss and the vitriolic nature to the complaining that came from so many on here was not appropriate.

same sort of thing is happening now. for whatever reason byu fans demand perfection and nothing short. you lose a game to a legitimate top 15 team in 2OT, when that team is playing as well as they've played all season, and there are no positives apparently. you lose a game to a team that is not bad, and that you probably should have beat, on the back end of a three-day, three-game stretch (literally less than 24 hours after your previous game) and you're doomed.

like you said, byu isn't kansas. likewise, byu football isn't alabama football. this isn't accepting mediocrity, this is accepting the facts. byu athletics will likely continue to do well, ending seasons in the top 25. once every few years we'll have a great year and do better, once every few years we'll have a bad year and do worse.
