with their admissions which will help them in the future, but the washout stats you are citing really have more to do with the lack of selectivity in the admissions process in the past which resulted in a lower quality average student. BYU will never have the washout stats you cite because of the quality of the average student at BYU compared to the average student at the U. Don't get me wrong, the top tier students at the U are just as good as the top tier students at BYU, but the average student at the U isn't anywhere close to the average student at BYU.
