Fans, current/prospective players, and others should recognize Bronco's success
Again...the Bronco critics show their true colors. If you sum up the response - basically this poster says that Bronco is too good of a coach and doesn't perform as an executive.

That's the silliest argument I've ever heard. I'll tell you who was the ultimate executive: Mack Brown. He was a great coach, but let it go to become an "executive" and basically got run out of town.

From what I can tell, the chief complaint is that Bronco makes poor choices on coordinator positions. I would agree that he's missed. However, I also know for a fact that BYU grossly underpays assistant coaches relative to the market. God bless people like R Anae, N Howell, B Doman and others who believe so much in BYU that they are willing stay (and come back) even though they are underpaid.

Think about Gary Anderson. He left Wisconsin, a premier program, in a premier league, for a lesser program. The reasons: the school wouldn't bend on admissions and he couldn't pay his assistants.

Gary is a great coach.

Why in the world would any good coach want to come to BYU when they will not do any of the things they need to get done.

Finally, the last criticism is that Bronco can't do what Lavell did with assistants. LaVell helped revolutionize football, which helped him attract coaches. But the reality was that: 1) BYU was one of only a handful of western programs that were "trying" to win football in the '80s; and 2) that the pay for assistants was pretty much the same at all programs. In that era, there wasn't the competition for talent that there is now.

God BLESS Bronco for sticking around even though perhaps well intentioned, but uniformed fans want to run him out on a rail!!
