RE: That's exactly what I want to know...
A family member is a contributor of the Coaches Circle. In their meetings, they say often that they are able to get their head coaches close to market (not all the way).

But assistants are lower. Our competitors are P5 programs...just within our state, the UofU pays their assistants (in some cases) multiple $100,000's more than BYU does. Coach Holiday could have driven up 50 miles to get a $50,000 raise. Their is a reason why it is hard to get Utah coaches to cross the lines...and it's not because of lack of affinity. They pay them more.

Utah is a mid-/lower-level P5 program that has dollars available.

I understand that BYU is working to rectify this...but is slow in coming. This is a major consideration for landing the strength and conditioning coach.

this is not a football-only issue. BYU (and the church) has a culture of underpaying the market because people often will sacrifice pay to be part of the institution. The impact is that this just constrains the pool of options to those who are willing to make the sacrifice. Some do, but most don't.
