I think this is a fluff excuse given to Bronco for the reason of hiring and promoting Howell. If BYU is really not paying their coaches well enough that our only chances of hiring coaches comes from the High School ranks or athletes that have never coached before... what's the point?

Crowton had BYU pay his assistant at market value when he came to BYU... Bronco isn't under paid at all and is right at the average for head coaches. I highly doubt that we are seeing our coaches getting paid under 6 figures.
