One difference for me: Female college gymnasts are usually past their prime
in their sport. Phenomenal athletes, but you rarely see them competing in the highest levels of gymnastics (Olympics, World Championships). Collegiate competition is where these gymnasts go to "die" in the sport, if you will.
Collegiate volleyball, however, is the breeding ground for future national and international stars. It is where these athletes get their start, not finish.
