Yes, it looks dumb. Maybe a bit insensitive to make a movie about (an attempt at?) assassinating a living person.

But it's the principle of the thing. We tend to think of "free speech" as whether or not our government restricts our voices, but the principle can be applied in many other ways--such as threats like this, or the Mozilla CEO incident.
