to both preferred Krabi. Prettier coastline, less tourists and a lot less sleaze. But Phuket does have the bigger resort chains like Marriott. Krabi doesn't have so much of that. But the Krabi coastline is beautiful. We stayed at the Railay Bay Resort and Spa and the scenery surrounding the resort is incredible. You will love either place though. Bangkok is great. One of my favorite cities in Asia. Just be careful because as I'm sure you know they are prone to violent protests. The shopping in Bangkok is also great. When we lived in Asia the wives would always fly to Bangkok for shopping trips. We bought a lot of stuff in Bangkok.
