Memphis coach is getting bad info. First about visiting Provo, see

Next, the link you provided was second hand from Mitch Mathews. It is not a direct quote from Mendenhall. Unfortunately, the BYUSN guys did not ask Bronco about that alleged quote in their interview.
Based on the fact that the Memphis coach believes we've been telling people his coaches visited Provo, which is indeed a lie someone other than Bronco has been spreading, I am not surprised if other quotes are getting mischaracterized.
You'll also notice in Bronco's interview, he has no problem with Coach Fuente and indeed was very complimentary.
This smells more of the media types trying to stir things up. Reminds me of the San Diego media after the 1984 and 1989 Holiday Bowls misquoting Lavell to rile up the other team's coaches.
