I'm happy for the win, but BYU did EVERYTHING possible to choke the
game away. Everything. It's like they have no idea how to manage a full court press, understand anything about wise clock management, and they are a one trick pony with the run and chuck regardless of the circumstances. So many dumb turnovers. It was a win. Yes. But I was as frustrated as anyone that they let Stanford back into the game by playing absolutely stupid basketball, then gave Stanford's ace two pretty good looks at three to win the game at the end.

It was not as easy to enjoy the win for me when there were so many negatives. BYU getting outscored 13-2 in the last three minutes is beyond ridiculous. The fact that I am bothered by that does not mean I am unhappy about the win. I'm very glad they won. Otherwise, I wouldn't be investing time and energy watching the game and posting on CB. It's just that these guy need to play better down the stretch. More importantly, they need to play smarter. It's disturbing to see these guys playing like a bunch of deacons lost on the floor in a church basketball game. As a fan, I would have liked to seen a much cleaner end to the game, without BYU bending over backwards to hand Stanford the game and embarrassing itself so badly on nearly every possession with a stupid play, dumb turnover, bad defense, etc.

At the end of the game, I was very impressed that Haws played at all, much less that he had such a great game. I was happy about Worthington's scrappy play. Winder played well except for the last few minutes (that travel was incredible, not to mention the two missed TF's in the final five seconds). I'd just like to see them play with more poise and confidence. A 10 point win at home would have felt better. Or a five point win with Stanford playing its way back into contention without BYU's display of absolute incompetence. I don't think that's unreasonable, nor do I think that makes anyone less of a fan to be frustrated by the last five minutes, despite the victory. It revealed some serious problems with this team.
