I just switched to an imac. I have a lot of family videos on an external hard drive. In order to use the external hard drive in a Mac I have to erase the hard drive and reformat it.

I wanted to put the video files on the Mac before I erased the external hard drive. I did that but I can't open the video files because they aren't a supported file type.

Any suggestions on how I an keep these video files without having a PC?
