Clock management was so inconsistent and horrible to end both halves. We essentially gave away two possessions voluntarily. In a game like that, it's hard to imagine we wouldn't have scored in one of them.
The fight at the end is somewhat (if at all) embarrassing because we lost. Had we won, and Memphis had started the fight, I feel like it would have been a non-issue. The fact it went on as long as it did may reflect the discipline issues we saw all year on the field. We have a lot of hot heads that can't seem to control their emotions or direct them to make plays.
The defense was just bad. Giving up 45 in regulation is unacceptable.
The offense, just like the entire season since Hill went down, was pretty good. There is room for improvement, but I like the trend and adjustments on that end. I think Anae and co. have earned their keep.
For the offseason:
1. I don't see Bronco getting fired, but would be so disappointed to see Howell back next year.
2. If Bronco is going to stay, he needs to maximize his impact. That's on the defense. He needs to be heavily involved on that end, or his value is severely impaired.
3. BYU seems to be at a crossroads. I feel like a systematic shift has occurred in college football, and BYU thus far has refused to step up financially to stay competitive. Another source of revenue needs to be drawn to pay better salaries and improve facilities. If it isn't willing or able to, BYU will be left behind.
