gig, Reid has explicitly stated interest in the BYU job, even calling it his dream job (obviously, his dream NCAA job - the NFL is clearly what he prefers). Even then, almost nobody around here thinks Reid would even consider it until he tires (if he ever does) with the NFL. Reid has also stated that he's happy with the coaching situation BYU currently has. Put this all together and you have a very long-shot that Reid would ever coach at BYU. Reid would have to be in-between coaching jobs in the NFL with no other desirable NFL head-coaching job on the horizon, and BYU would need to be looking for a coach at the same time before Reid could even become a possibility.

Bottom line - although the timing may never work out, Reid has explicitly stated interest in the BYU job. So, it's not unreasonable for people to occasionally bring up the unlikely possibility.
