Wow, a very well thought out post. Nicely done, and you make great points.
I have confidence that Bronco can diagnose what needs to be done, and that he has the coaching chops to get it done. What we don't know is if Bronco is going to get more heavily involved in the defense again. This past year, Bronco concentrated on the offense, leaving a very inexperienced Howell to work out teaching Bronco's scheme to some inexperienced players. Didn't work so well. Lack of playmakers certainly plays in to this, but the coaches weren't even able to detect these glaring issues until the wheels had fallen off the defense halfway through the season. In my opinion, Bronco must take back control of the defense, and do what he does best. If he does that, I have every confidence that we'll start seeing guys making plays, and the wins will come.
