My optimism of BYU football still resides in the fact that we can still attract top flight talent. These guys could've picked any single school in the country and came to BYU. You'll never see Utah ever bag the #1 QB in the country with a 4 star receiver and 4 star LB to go with it.

According to my calculations this could've been the Senior years for a 5 star (Heaps) nationally recruited QB with a 4 star (Apo) receiver out of Texas and a 4 star LB (Stout) out of California leading BYU back to the top. Instead they all fizzled out. Yeah, Stout came on strong in the end I suppose.

We had the perfect storm of success in recruiting thanks to the BYU name brand.....only to be met with the perfect storm of let downs. Either way here is to what might've been.
