Grit for Brains had a good post that summarizes big man recruiting over the

last several years:

There was a year (2012) when we didn't get a big man (or maybe that was the year we got Ambrosino, which would basically be the same thing as no big man). I'm sure Rose didn't just forget to recuit any post players that year. I have no idea who he targeted, but it clearly he missed whoever he tried to get.

Besides that, Ian Harward was supposed to be the other senior big man on this team, and that just didn't work out (he had a bad back, but it really didn't look like he would have made much impact even if he had been healthy). I guess Sharp was supposed to shore up our front court, but that didn't work out either.

So Harward in 2011, no one in 2012, and Worthington in 2013, with only Nielson in the mission pipeline, and Sharp along in there. After we recruited Davies, there was a long dry stretch until Mika. That is hard to explain, especislly when you look at some of the bigs that USU got over that stretch. There must have been 1 or 2 who could have dealt with the BYU environment. Whatever the cause, that really hurt the prospects for this team.

Hopefully that drought is over with Aytes, Davis, and Dastrup lined up (and maybe some development from Nielson and Kafusi).
