Is there any advantage to getting one tied to a specific company (i.e. AmEx Delta or AmEx Hilton) as opposed to a general travel rewards card (i.e. Blue Sky from AmEx)? I don't travel a lot - probably 2-3 times per year. I use one of 3 airlines (Delta, Alaska, or United) depending on where I am going. I stay in whichever hotel fits my needs for that particular trip.
The reason I want a travel rewards card as opposed to cash back or something like that is that I would rather be "rewarded" with something that is concretely fun as opposed to just getting cash back which will then be spent on more of the same (I know it's not logical, but it's real in my psyche).
So bottom line is that I'm leaning towards the general rewards card but I just want to make sure I'm not missing something - those of you who travel a lot and have mastered the art of rewards, please speak up if I'm making the wrong choice.
Thanks.
