You are only a great actor if you are consistently found doing great acting. TV pitchman isn't great character acting. You can have all the talent in the world but if you refuse to go for the brass ring and instead hunker down in the saddle until the carousel comes safely to a stop, it really doesn't matter because it is, at least in part, wasted talent. That talent will never be on display on a scale and in a manner befitting greatness with the direction, supporting cast and production values that attend great modern film acting in this day and age.
