I think there are two similarities.

  • Style of play
  • Fans apathy

Reid played in DT's opinion a boring brand of basketball.  I'm not saying it wasn't effective.  He won.  


Bronco has had some good years, and some entertaining offenses, but I also think the offenses over the last several years have been boring at times...hadn't looked like BYU football (even moments during Taysom's run.  Yes, he was a threat everytime he had the ball, but the play calling and game plan wasn't typical BYU and hadn't been for several years IMO.)).  It actually looked better with Stewart.


The other similarity to Reid to me is the fans apathy.  It grew over time w/ Reid, peaking in what '96 (not all his fault) and the same is true w/ Bronco's program, though I don't think it's hit bottom w/him yet.  In fact, he may have a decent season next year before seeing the trend continue to fall.
