he was all set to go to stanford to play golf, but got a rejection letter in the mail. He was kind of shocked that he would get rejected because he had the grades and the golf accolades. he left a message with the golf coach at stanford questioning why he got rejected but i guess back in the day, it was a handwritten message by the coaches secretary that never got delivered to coach.

clampett then went to visit byu and tucker. i guess while he was in Utah, the correction to his rejection letter was cleared up by stanford but it still didnt sit well with the clampetts.

clampett hit it off well with tucker and the rest is history.
