You might have heard someone blaming Anae, maybe even someone close to the situation like Ross himself, but a comment from that individual is insufficient evidence. If Holliday had wanted Ross to play, Ross would have played.

Put differently, if Ross had really earned playing time, Holliday would have gone to bat for Ross to the extent that Ross would have gotten PT. Since he didn't, it's clear that he didn't earn that level of support from his position coach.
