that resonated with me was never "lend" friends/family money. If they need money, you just give it to them. Otherwise, the next time they have a new phone, or plan a vacation, your first thought is about how much they owe you.
Imagine giving this girl 2 bills (that's $200, for you white folks) to help with the oven, then she posts on Facebook a week later about how much fun she had the Gaga concert with pics from her "TOTES AAAHHHH-AMAZING SEATS!." Now, she may have had those tix for a long time, maybe she won them on a radio show, maybe a friend took her cause she was feeling down... nope, none of that matters. You now hate her forever.
I know this is tangential to your post, but money just has this crazy power to destroy relationships.
